The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Bhubaneswar, organised an awareness programme on Poshan Maah 2026 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 at Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM), Purbakachha, Cuttack, today. The programme focused on nutrition, healthy living, cleanliness, hygiene and community participation, with students, women, youth and local community members taking part.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Shri Golak Mohapatra, Social Worker, emphasised that building healthier and cleaner communities requires collective responsibility. He highlighted the role of families, schools and communities in transforming awareness about nutrition and sanitation into sustainable everyday practices.
Mrs. Soudamini Panda, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), stressed that ensuring proper nutrition for children is a shared responsibility and not the sole duty of mothers. She highlighted the important role of fathers in children's nutrition, health and overall development. She informed that various activities and competitions are being organised at the Anganwadi level to encourage fathers to actively participate in their children's nutritional and developmental journey.
She also emphasised the importance of a balanced diet containing adequate protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. She encouraged families to make greater use of locally available nutritious foods to meet children's dietary requirements.
Dr. S. N. Parida highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy daily habits for maintaining good health. He emphasised that adequate nutrition during childhood is essential for physical growth and overall development.
The programme was also addressed by Shri Sanjaya Behura, Sarpanch, Madhyakachha Gram Panchayat; Shri Tridib Behera, Academician and Chairperson, Tetrahedron Group of Institutions, Cuttack; the Headmaster of SSVM; and Dr. Bijayananda Singh, eminent writer.
Essay, debate, painting and slogan-writing competitions were organised among students on themes related to nutrition and cleanliness, with winners felicitated during the programme.
Under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, a cleanliness drive was conducted at Purbakachha with participation from students, women, youth and local residents. CBC-empanelled Private Registered Troupes (PRTs) used folk art performances to spread messages on cleanliness, sanitation and healthy living.
A nutritious recipe demonstration was also organised by Anganwadi workers of Tentola and Bahugram Gram Panchayats, showcasing locally available nutritious food options.
