Paperman Media ( Jagatsinghpur )- Veteran journalist Saroj Nayak was felicitated for his significant contribution towards preserving Jagannath culture and popularising the unique religious tradition of the ‘Poduana Yatra’ from Niali Madhab to Srikshetra (Puri).
The felicitation programme was organised at his residence at Shasanpada. Senior journalists Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Trilochan Pruspalak, Pitambar Rout and noted poet Amiy Kumar Nayak were among those present on the occasion and honoured Saroj Nayak for his contribution.
The idea of carrying the traditional ‘Poduana Bhar’ from Niali Madhab to Srikshetra is understood to have originated in Saroj Nayak’s mind. Through his sustained efforts and initiative, Jagannath devotees from different areas came together to carry forward the sacred tradition.
Poduana Yatra is not merely a religious journey but also a unique symbol of the spiritual and cultural relationship between Niali Madhab and Srikshetra. They appreciated Nayak’s efforts to take this distinctive tradition of Jagannath culture closer to the people and preserve it for future generations.
Several intellectuals and Jagannath culture researchers also demanded appropriate government recognition for Nayak’s contribution towards preserving and promoting the heritage tradition.
