The Odisha Information Service Association (OISA) organised its Annual Function 2026 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, on Saturday, emphasising cadre strengthening, professional development and improved public service delivery.
A seminar on “Public Relations in the Digital Age: Changing Responsibilities, Emerging Challenges and New Opportunities for Public Relations Officers” was organised to discuss the evolving role of communication professionals in the digital era.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Biswal, IAS, Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Odisha, attended as the Chief Guest, while Shri Ashok Kumar Beuria, Additional Secretary, I&PR Department, was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal, delivered the keynote address.
Biswal highlighted OISA’s role in promoting professional growth and collective development among OIS officers. He assured necessary government support for strengthening the cadre and enhancing public service delivery.
Prof. Pradhan stressed the importance of credible information dissemination, effective media engagement and people-centric communication. He urged Public Relations Officers (PROs) to upgrade their skills, adopt emerging technologies and counter misinformation to strengthen public trust.
OISA President Sucheta Priyadarshini, General Secretary Pathani Rout, Advisor Santosh Kumar Das, Vice-President Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak and Joint Secretary Deepak Kumar Sahoo attended the programme. Retired OIS officers were felicitated for their contributions and shared valuable professional experiences.
The Annual General Body Meeting resolved to pursue cadre strengthening, timely promotions, capacity building and regular training through sustained engagement with the department.
OISA also thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for releasing its souvenir, Loka Sampark, on October 9. Poetry, mimicry and cultural performances added vibrancy to the occasion, fostering fellowship among serving and retired officers.
