IGNOU organise Student Discussion on the Immediate Implementation of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam

Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar)- IGNOU Regional Centre Bhubaneswar conducted a seminar and a Student Discussion on the immediate implementation of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 on 13th April 2026 at the Regional Centre conference Hall. Professor Nibedita Jena, advisor to Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha was the Guest of honour and also the resource person on the occasion.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Dash, Senior Regional Director welcomed the Guest of Honour and the participants. He felt that there was a need to ensure fair representation of women in the pivotal positions of the governance system. Guest of Honour Professor Jena addressed the participants on the theme of  “Social and cultural barriers for under-representation of women in policy making and legislatures”. Professor Jena held that the socialization and societal processes were such that they shaped the thinking of men and women in a particular way. Consequently, it impeded the fair representation of women in the public sphere, particularly in the decision making domain. It was quite an interactive and open-house discussion in which the participants put forth their views without any inhibition. The house of the students took a final pledge on the matter and resolved that there is an urgent need for swift implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 in order to bring inclusive growth in the country.

Dr. Bimal Chandra Nanda, Deputy Director, Dr. S K Panigrahi, Additional Director, Dr. P K Jena Deputy Director, other officials of the Regional Centre and Dr Binay Mohapatra, Asst Coordinator actively coordinated the Programme.
