Boyanika Marks 70 Years of Excellence:  A Platinum Milestone for Odisha’s Handloom Heritage

Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- Today marks a historic chapter in the annals of Odisha’s cultural history as Boyanika, the state’s premier handloom cooperative organisation, celebrates its 70th Foundation Day. The milestone commemorates seven decades of dedicated service in preserving the timeless legacy of Odisha Handlooms and empowering the weaver communities that breathe life into them. "Odisha's rich handloom is a living reflection of our culture, tradition, heritage and identity. It provides a livelihood to thousands of weavers & empowers the rural economy," said Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts, Sri Pradip Bal Samanta. Inaugurating the 70th Foundation Day celebrations of the Odisha State Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society Ltd. (Boyanika) at the 'Boyanika Exclusive ' branch in Boyan Bhawan, he further added that Boyanika has become a symbol of trust, reliance, pride, self-reliance, and excellence. Boyanika continues to stand as a distinguished ambassador of Odisha handwoven heritage.

Smt. Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department, attended as the Guest of Honor and remarked that throughout its seven-decade journey, Boyanika has established itself as a deeply trusted institution. To mark this special occasion and to encourage wider public participation, Boyanika is offering a special additional rebate of 10% over and above the existing 20% rebate, enabling customers to avail a total benefit of 20% + 10% on handloom products. This initiative not only enhances customer engagement but also directly contributes to increased earnings for the weaver community.

In the financial year 2025–26, Boyanika achieved a turnover of ₹233.56 Crore and has set an ambitious target of ₹280 Crore for 2026–27, driven by focused initiatives in retail expansion, digital integration, and innovative marketing strategies. With a legacy rooted in tradition and a vision aligned with the future, Boyanika continues to weave a story of pride, purpose, and progress.
