Sundays on Cycle in Sync with PM’s Call for Fitness and Green Mobility : Sports Minister Suraj

Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar )-Reinforcing the vision of a healthier, greener, and fitter Odisha, the Sports & Youth Services Department today organised a successful edition of “Sundays on Cycle” under the Fit Odisha movement at Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Minister Sports & Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj flagged off the event along with Arjuna Awardee Minati Mohapatra, Olympian Anuradha Biswal, Director Sports, Dr Yeddula Vijay. 

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from CISF, CRPF, MY Bharat, NSS Odisha volunteers, NCC cadets, eminent sportspersons, cycling advocates, youth, fitness enthusiasts, and citizens from different walks of life, who came together to promote healthy lifestyles, environmental consciousness, and community fitness through cycling, adding immense inspiration and prestige to the occasion.

The rally traversed through Utkal Hospital and Pandit Raghunath Murmu Park, before culminating once again at Vaibhav Wellness Centre Square,

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Sports & Youth Services, Shri Suryabanshi Suraj Sundays On Cycle, is not merely a cycling event but a nationwide health and fitness movement under the Fit India Mission. It is not just about physical fitness but also about creating awareness on sustainable lifestyles and collective social responsibility. The programme aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call for a Fit India and also reducing mobile consumption, adopting healthy living practices, promoting fitness as a mass movement, and embracing environment-friendly lifestyles.”

Through initiatives like Sundays on Cycle, the Government of Odisha continues to encourage citizens to reduce dependence on fuel-based transport, promote austerity measures, and contribute towards building a cleaner and greener environment, he added

The Fit India - Sundays on Cycle campaign, launched nationwide in December 2024 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, has rapidly evolved into a transformative public movement.
