A total of 64 farmers from the Block Level Citizens Federation of Khalikote Block, mainly women farmers, actively participated in the programme. In addition, six staff members of the Youth for Social Development (YSD) were present and supported the training.
During the session, there was a very lively and meaningful discussion on the various health problems faced by people in their villages. Many participants shared their experiences about the health hazards caused by chemical-based farming and food systems.
The training mainly focused on the principles and practices of organic and natural farming, highlighting how these methods can help protect soil health, human health, and the environment. Participants showed great interest in learning about chemical-free cultivation and sustainable farming practices.
Along with the theoretical discussion, one practical session was also conducted, which helped the farmers understand the techniques in a more hands-on manner. The programme also included an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants asked many practical questions related to farming practices.
On this occasion, Bibhu Prasad Sahu, Secretary of Youth for Social Development (YSD), encouraged the participants and assured that necessary follow-up support would be provided from time to time to strengthen the practice of natural farming in the area. Mr Suresh Bisoyee, Sr Professionals conducted the training.
The programme concluded with a sense of enthusiasm and commitment among the farmers to move towards healthier and more sustainable farming practices.
