Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- The Revenue and Disaster Management Department is taking several initiatives to ensure the successful implementation of a cashless transaction system in all Sub-Registrar (SR) and District Sub-Registrar (DSR) offices across the State. In this regard, a high-level review meeting was held at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
During the meeting, it was decided that 350 Point of Sale (PoS) machines would be installed in a phased manner across all SR and DSR offices in the State. These machines will be provided through Indian Bank and distributed based on the volume of registration transactions handled by each office. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department will provide the necessary funds for the procurement of the PoS machines.
In the first phase, the system will be implemented in the registration offices of Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, and Sambalpur. To ensure uninterrupted service and proper maintenance of the PoS machines, an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for a period of five years will be put in place.
The meeting further decided that, following approval from the Government, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) would be prepared for the implementation of the system and the concerned officers and staff would be provided with the necessary training. The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage citizens to make payments through digital modes and to bring greater transparency, convenience, efficiency and accountability to the registration process. It was also clarified during the meeting that cash transactions would be discouraged except in highly essential and unavoidable circumstances.
The Inspector General of Registration (IGR) participated in the meeting through virtual mode. Joint Secretary of the Finance Department, officials of the Directorate of Treasuries and Inspection (DT&I), representatives of Cyber Treasury and senior officials of TrraCIS Technologies Limited were also present.
