The sixth Executive Council meeting of Panchasakha Shiksha Setu approved 707 school development projects worth ₹7.73 crore across 29 districts of Odisha, focusing on strengthening school infrastructure and improving the learning environment through alumni participation.
The meeting was chaired by Dr N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, and Chairman of the Executive Council.
During the meeting, contributions amounting to ₹2,57,90,810 were received from alumni, parents, School Management Committee members, local individuals and various organisations. With matching grants from Panchasakha Shiksha Setu, projects worth ₹7,73,72,430 were approved for implementation.
The projects will cover classroom repairs, drinking water facilities, boundary walls, school gates, campus beautification, bicycle stands and other essential infrastructure. These initiatives aim to create safer, more attractive and student-friendly educational environments.
Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jajpur and Cuttack districts recorded the highest financial contributions, reflecting growing community participation in school development.
The meeting also discussed two new initiatives, Alumni Podcast and District Spotlight, to strengthen alumni engagement. The Alumni Podcast will feature accomplished former students sharing their educational journeys, challenges and success stories to inspire students and encourage contributions to their former institutions.
District Spotlight will showcase development activities, infrastructure improvements and success stories under Panchasakha Shiksha Setu through social media platforms, encouraging wider public participation.
Dr Naik emphasised strengthening the relationship between schools and their alumni to support institutional development. The Executive Council also reviewed ongoing initiatives and discussed future strategies for greater community involvement.
Smt Sangeeta Behera, Member Secretary of Panchasakha Shiksha Setu and SPD (In-charge), Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), along with other Executive Council members, attended the meeting.
