Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- Odisha celebrated its 80th State-Level Independence Day at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unfurling the National Flag and taking the salute at the ceremonial parade.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, DGP Y.B. Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Hemant Sharma, NCC DDG Bikram Singh, senior officials, dignitaries and a large gathering attended the समारोह.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters and announced several initiatives. Free textbooks will now be provided to students of Classes IX and X, while 18 new government colleges and four new universities are planned in peripheral districts.
He clarified that Agri-Stack registration is not linked to P-PAS registration for paddy procurement. The government also plans three major expressway projects with an investment of ₹31,000 crore.
The Chief Minister announced raising the upper age limit for government job applications from 32 to 42 years and removing the six-attempt restriction for the Odisha Civil Services Examination. Restrictions on compassionate appointments have also been relaxed.
As many as 50 platoons participated in the parade, representing armed forces, police, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Red Cross and schools. Awards were also presented to outstanding parade contingents and Republic Day tableaux.
