Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar )- The 24th National Para Athletics Championship concluded saturday at the local Kalinga Stadium. On this occasion, the Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi joined all the winning athletes and awarded them and advised them to continue their hard work in all sports in the future. Defeats and victories come to all athletes in life, but the real winners of life are you. Because you have turned your weaknesses into your strength, the Chief Minister said while addressing all the athletes. On this occasion, the Chief Minister asked all the athletes to bring glory to the country in the upcoming Asian Para Games and on this occasion, the Chief Minister specially congratulated 40 athletes of the Odisha contingent. In his speech, the Chief Minister asked the athletes to continue their efforts to achieve excellence by following the path of Olympic medalists like Pramod Bhagat and V. Ramesh Rao. He further said that success is waiting for you. No one can stop you. The Odia athletes who have achieved success and won medals today should continue their efforts and perform their best in the world. Give a new identity to the talent of Odisha in the world, he advised. Odisha has taken a prominent place in the world's sports map. We have got another great opportunity because the World Indoor Athletics Championships-2028 will be held in Bhubaneswar. Our efforts will continue for the development of infrastructure, identification of sports talent, training and organization of national and international sports competitions for the development of sports in Odisha. The Chief Minister said that he is very grateful to the legendary Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for his cooperation and support for the development of sports in India and Odisha. It is worth noting that 1460 para-athletes from 28 states participated in the said championship.On the closing day, the Chief Minister awarded the championship teams Haryana (1st) (95 medals), Tamil Nadu (2nd) (51 medals), and Gujarat (3rd) (30 medals) and awarded the winning athletes at various levels.Odisha won a total of 17 medals including 5 gold medals in this championship. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Suryavanshi Suraj, Sports Secretary Shri Sachin R. Yadav, Paralympic Committee General Secretary Shri Jaywant G. H., Para Athletics, President Shri Satyanarayana, Para Sports Association of Odisha President Shri Kamalakanta Rath were prominently present on the occasion.
