Reenactment of Mahatma Gandhi's 1934 Padayatra begins

Paperman Mesia (Puri ) - Reenactment of Mahatma Gandhi's 1934 Padayatra has begun today. The Padayatra began today from Singhadwar of Shrimandir and will end on the 12th at Swaraj Ashram and Kathajodi river sand field. Organized by INTAC Puri and Bhubaneswar chapters, this Yatra is being attended by many Gandhians and INTACH members, including an artist dressed as Gandhi. The first day of the Yatra ended at Gopabandhu Daridra Narayan Seva Sangh, Kadua Ashram. It is noteworthy that Gandhi stayed overnight at this Ashram during his Padayatra.

The Padayatra left Singhadwar at 6:30 am and first proceeded to Srigundicha Temple. From there, it reached Veer Harekrushnapur. There, a wreath was laid at the statue of martyr Jai Rajguru and a discussion was held with about 50 local children on Gandhi Bhajans and his philosophy of life. It is worth noting that this village belongs to Jai Rajguru. Tomorrow, the yatra will leave Kadua Ashram and go to Pipili.

While the program was coordinated by Puri Chapter Convenor Subash Chandra Rath, today Gandhian Ramakant Mandal, Indumati Sahu, Anil Dhir, Golak Prasad Singh, Ashok Satpathy, Debashish Sarangi, Kashinath Sahu, Shashanka Sekhar Dash were prominent participants.
