Odisha is poised to emerge as a major global investment destination, driven by its natural resources, progressive industrial policies, infrastructure and growing technology ecosystem, said Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Odisha.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the second edition of TiECon Bhubaneswar 2026 – Odisha Leap Up Summit, organised by TiE Bhubaneswar at Hotel Crystal Crown under the theme “Build, Scale & Export.” The two-day summit aims to strengthen entrepreneurship, promote export-led growth and connect Odisha's enterprises with national and international markets.
Dr Mahaling highlighted opportunities in semiconductors, IT, metals, advanced manufacturing and data centres, emphasising the vision of transforming Odisha from “mines to microchips”. He also stressed regulatory reforms, digital connectivity and industry-research collaboration to achieve the state's development goals for 2036 and 2047.
Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, said entrepreneurship was expanding across all 30 districts. He noted that TiE Odisha had organised at least 48 events in the last 12 months to identify and encourage entrepreneurs. He added that sustained economic growth of 7–8 per cent annually could help Odisha double its economy in approximately seven years.
Vishal Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Electronics and IT Department, revealed that five semiconductor projects involving proposed investments exceeding US$4 billion were underway in Odisha. He highlighted the state's growing focus on semiconductor manufacturing, AI data centres and Global Capability Centres.
