Former Minister Sushant Singh passes away

Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar)- Senior leader of Biju Janata Dal and former Minister Shri Sushant Singh has passed away. His mortal remains were paid last respects at Shankha Bhawan. The demise of late Sushant Singh is an irreparable loss for Biju Janata Dal. As an uncompromising politician, he was a three-time MLA from Bhatli Assembly constituency in Bargarh district from 2009 to 2019. He also held the charge as a cabinet minister. He is known as a prominent public leader and organizer of Western Odisha. He was ill and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and passed away. The demise of late Shri Sushant Singh has cast a shadow of grief in various quarters.

Biju Janata Dal President and Leader of Opposition Shri Naveen Patnaik expressed deep condolences by offering floral wreaths. Shri Patnaik said that Late Shri Sushant Singh was an efficient organizer, popular public leader and a sincere public servant. He dedicated his life for the development of Bargarh district and Western Odisha and the welfare of the common people. His demise is an irreparable loss for Biju Janata Dal, Western Odisha and the entire state. His contribution in strengthening the party and serving the people will always be remembered. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed to Lord Shri Jagannath for the repose of his immortal soul.

At Shankha Bhawan, MLAs, senior leaders and workers were present and offered floral bouquets and paid tearful tributes to Late Shri Singh.

Late Shri Singh earned the deep trust and love of the people. As a result, he won from the Bhatli Assembly constituency consecutively in 2009, 2014 and 2019. Along with this, he also made a significant contribution in taking various public welfare steps by becoming a minister. Throughout his political career, he always fought for the interests of farmers, workers, youth, women and the marginalized sections of the society. His simplicity, simple lifestyle, organizational skills and dedicated public service made him a highly respected leader in Western Odisha. His untimely demise has created a huge void in the local area and in the political arena.

He was born on 17 March 1973 in a very ordinary house in Sohela, Bargarh district. The urge to fight corruption drew him into politics. After achieving success in his struggle, he became an MLA for three consecutive terms. Despite serious illness, he used to understand the welfare and problems of the people even from a medical bed. Finally, he passed away. Senior leaders of Biju Janata Dal, MPs, MLAs, former ministers, officials of various organizations and a large number of workers were present at this condolence meeting and paid tribute to the late Shri Sushant Singh. Everyone remembered his contribution in strengthening the BJD organization in Western Odisha. All those present prayed to Lord Jagannath for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to grant the bereaved family strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss.
