EMRSs Celebrate World Environment Day 2026 with Vibrant Green Initiatives

Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar)- Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across the state enthusiastically celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a series of meaningful and eco-friendly activities, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living. The celebrations were organized in alignment with this year's global theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

The day-long observance commenced with a massive tree plantation drive across EMRS campuses, where hundreds of tribal students and teachers actively participated in planting native saplings. Guided by their teachers, students pledged to nurture and protect the saplings throughout their stay in the residential schools, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature and environmental stewardship.

Various awareness programmes, interactive sessions, and experiential learning activities were conducted to educate students about pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, waste management, water preservation, and the adoption of renewable energy. Through these initiatives, students gained valuable insights into sustainable practices and the importance of protecting natural resources for future generations.

The celebrations reflected the dedication of EMRSs to nurturing environmentally conscious and responsible citizens among tribal youth. World Environment Day holds special significance in EMRSs, as these institutions serve tribal communities that share a deep cultural and traditional connection with nature, forests, and ecological sustainability.
