EESL, Thermogreen Cool Join Hands to Promote Passive Cooling Solutions

New Delhi

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thermogreen Cool to promote passive cooling and cool-roof technologies for a climate-resilient India.

The partnership aims to improve indoor thermal comfort, reduce heat absorption by buildings and lower cooling-related energy demand through innovative, energy-efficient solutions. The initiative comes amid rising temperatures and increasing demand for sustainable cooling infrastructure across the country.

Thermogreen Cool’s Thermacool coating technology, developed in collaboration with IIT Bombay, uses solar heat-reflective properties to help reduce rooftop temperatures and improve indoor comfort. The technology can complement conventional cooling systems and support energy efficiency in residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

The MoU was signed in the presence of EESL Chief Executive Officer Akhilesh Dixit. EESL was represented by Vidya Sagar Sharma and Shashindra Singh, while Thermogreen Cool was represented by Mala Roy, Kishore and Shefali Roy.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Kumar Choudhary, Head – Sustainability & Clean Tech, EESL, said passive cooling solutions could play a vital role in addressing rising temperatures, improving thermal comfort and supporting India’s climate adaptation efforts.

Sagar Business Ventures Limited, the Eastern India partner of Thermogreen Cool, will support the adoption of these indigenous technologies across the region. The companies are also discussing plans to establish two manufacturing plants, one in Odisha and another in the Middle East.

The collaboration aligns with India’s broader goals of energy efficiency, emissions reduction, indigenous innovation and sustainable development, while promoting climate-responsive infrastructure and affordable cooling solutions.
