Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment and Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, today reviewed the progress of four new colleges being set up under the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).
The State Government had previously approved the establishment of these four institutions: College of Agriculture, Mayurbhanj, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Sambalpur, College of Fisheries, Sonepur, College of Agriculture, Balangir.
During the review, it was highlighted that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all four colleges have been prepared, and sites for both temporary and permanent campuses have been identified. A budget allocation of ₹50 crore has already been sanctioned for these projects.
For the Agriculture College in Mayurbhanj, the creation of a total of 77 posts, 24 teaching and 53 non-teaching positions including Ministerial and Technical staffs has been completed. Shri Singh Deo informed that 60 students have enrolled for the current academic year at the Mayurbhanj campus, where classes will commence shortly. In other three colleges students enrollment & classes will start from next academic session.
The review meeting was attended by Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Department; Shri Prem Chandra Chaudhary, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department; Dr. Prabhat Kumar Roul, Vice-Chancellor of OUAT; along with the Collectors of the four respective districts via video conferencing.
