Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Odisha marked its 26th Foundation Day on Thursday with a renewed focus on expanding digital connectivity, improving customer services and strengthening telecom infrastructure across the state.

Celebrated under the theme “HAMARA BSNL”, the Foundation Day programmes were organised across BSNL’s Business and Operational Areas in Odisha. The initiatives included Mega SIM and FTTH Melas, customer awareness activities, BharatNet connectivity programmes and recognition of outstanding employees.

BSNL Odisha has installed 1,789 new 4G mobile towers under the DBN-funded project, extending 4G services to 2,542 remote and previously unconnected villages. A further 865 villages are targeted for 4G connectivity by March 2027.

Under BharatNet, BSNL is working to extend high-speed internet connectivity to all 314 blocks and 6,798 Gram Panchayats in Odisha through an IP-MPLS optical-fibre network. Around 44,456 villages have been proposed for high-speed FTTH connectivity on demand.

The organisation is also working to provide FTTH connectivity to more than 5,000 secondary schools, 1,100 PHCs and over 6,500 secondary health centres, aimed at strengthening digital access to education and healthcare in rural areas.

As part of its customer initiatives, BSNL has announced a Re. 1 connection offer, the STV 349 plan and additional validity on the PV 2399 plan during October. New FTTH plans with an OTT token facility are also being introduced, allowing customers to customise OTT services through the Build Your OTT portal.

BSNL Odisha said the initiatives would support wider digital inclusion and strengthen connectivity across urban, rural and remote areas of the state.
