Marking 25 years of dedicated service, discipline, camaraderie and commitment to the nation, veterans and serving personnel of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard Batch 02/2001 came together for a memorable Silver Jubilee Reunion on the Odisha coast on August 23 and 24.
The two-day celebration brought together batchmates from different parts of the country to revisit cherished memories, celebrate their shared journey and strengthen the bonds of friendship forged during their years in uniform.
A major highlight of the reunion was the nostalgic homecoming to INS Chilka, the alma mater where the batch began its naval journey 25 years ago. The veterans visited their former training establishments and barracks and witnessed the significant transformation and modernisation of the institution over the years.
The veterans also paid solemn homage at the War Memorial in remembrance of their fallen comrades who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The visit was made particularly special by the presence of Commodore B. Deepak Aneel, Station Commander and Commanding Officer of INS Chilka, who attended as Chief Guest and warmly welcomed the veterans back to their place of training.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of Batch 02/2001, the organising committee thanked the naval leadership and the INS Chilka team for granting permission and extending warm hospitality. As a token of appreciation, a specially designed Silver Jubilee memento was presented to the Commanding Officer.
The celebrations later continued with a grand commemorative gathering and traditional get-together at Hotel MJR, Puri. Batchmates shared memories of their training days, recalled operational experiences, celebrated professional achievements and renewed their lifelong bonds.
The reunion was organised by a dedicated core committee comprising Pramod Mohanty, Subhendu Panda, Ashok Mohanty, Samal Pradhan, Sadananda Senapati, Prasant Swain, Sairanjan Pattanaik, PAC Swain, Sanjay Das, Rajani Mohapatra, Bhabani Mohanta and Kumar Gourav Das.
The historic gathering concluded with a collective pledge to continue supporting the veteran fraternity and uphold the timeless values of “Sham Nau Varuna”, carrying forward the spirit of service, camaraderie and commitment to the nation for generations to come.
