Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- The Government of India has approved today the procurement of pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Rabi 2025–26 in a video conferencing meeting between Hon'ble Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan & Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Earlier the Odisha government had requested the Government of India for this. The approved crops include pulses such as Green Gram and Black Gram, as well as oilseed crops like Sunflower, Groundnut, and Mustard.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Singh Deo said, to strengthen sunflower production in Western Odisha, particularly in Kalahandi district, and to ensure better price support to farmers, special emphasis will be given. The State Government will undertake continuous monitoring of procurement operations under the Price Support Scheme during the year 2025–26 to ensure transparent and timely procurement of farmers’ produce. This will help in providing remunerative prices to farmers for their produce.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Director Horticulture Shri Kalunge Gorakh Waman, Senior officers from the agriculture department were present during the meeting.
