Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurated a Boeing Sukanya Program STEM Lab and Aeromodeling Training Centre at The Kosala School in Bargarh district, providing students with practical learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and aviation.

The facility is expected to benefit more than 2,000 students annually, encouraging scientific curiosity, innovation and interest in technology-driven careers.

The Governor was accompanied by Attabira MLA Nihar Ranjan Mahanand, Bhatli MLA Irasis Acharya, Bargarh MLA Aswini Sarangi, Bargarh Collector and District Magistrate Aditya Goyal, and Murali Krishna Gannamani, Chairman of The Kosala School, along with representatives of Boeing and Learning Links Foundation.

During his visit, the Governor interacted with students and witnessed an innovation showcase featuring student projects, prototypes and aeromodeling flight demonstrations.

He said the initiative would expand access to quality STEM education and nurture scientific thinking among students, preparing them for opportunities in India's growing technology sector.

Salil Gupte, President, Boeing India and South Asia, said the facilities would encourage children to pursue careers in aviation and STEM fields.

The STEM laboratory will provide hands-on exposure to robotics, electronics, artificial intelligence, physical computing, rapid prototyping and aerospace concepts. The Aeromodeling Training Centre will focus on aerodynamics, aircraft design, flight principles and model aircraft construction. An AI laboratory has also been added through Ananda Cityzen, the CSR wing of Fluentgrid Ltd.

The initiative is supported by Learning Links Foundation, Boeing's nonprofit partner for education and skilling initiatives in India. Earlier this year, similar STEM laboratories were inaugurated in Sambalpur, Rairakhol and Kuchinda.

Launched in 2024, the Boeing Sukanya Program aims to increase women's participation in aviation through STEM education and scholarships for aspiring female pilots. The new facility is expected to strengthen practical learning and inspire students, particularly girls, to explore careers in science, technology and aviation.
