The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has extended its support to the indefinite hunger strike launched by Nav Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan state convenor Mohammad Manwar Ali, demanding the resignation of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
BJD leaders met Ali at the protest site and enquired about his health while holding detailed discussions on his demands and the ongoing agitation. The party said that issues concerning the education system and the future of students cannot be ignored and that the government has a responsibility to listen to and address students’ genuine grievances in a democratic system.
The BJD reiterated its commitment to safeguarding students’ rights, improving the quality of education and protecting the interests of Odisha’s youth. It said the party stands firmly with the legitimate demands of the student community.
Among those present were MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Biju Yuva Janata Dal state president Chinmay Sahu, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal state president Ipsita Sahu, Khordha district BJD working president Manmath Routray, BJD Yuva Janata Dal working president Sk. Amir Mahammad, general secretary Sofia Alam and several youth and student leaders.
The BJD leaders asserted that the voice of students cannot be suppressed and that it represents the voice of Odisha’s future.
