Women’s safety and security, prevention of crime against women, breaking the syndicates of organised crime, and a sustained drive against drugs and illicit liquor are among the priority areas of Odisha Police.
In furtherance of these priorities, and as per the directions of the DGP, Odisha Police conducted a special enforcement drive in Kataka and Bhubaneswar on the night of 26 August 2026.
The drive focused on the prevention and detection of illegal arms, illicit liquor, narcotics, criminal activities, drunken driving and other traffic violations, along with intensified night patrolling and checking.
A total of 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors were deputed for the special drive, both for field enforcement and practical exposure to policing operations.
Major Outcomes
*Kataka*
- 90 drunken-driving cases detected.
- 90 vehicles seized, comprising 21 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers.
- 2 Excise cases detected and 35 litres of liquor seized.
- 2 cases involving modified silencers detected.
- 4 mobile phones recovered.
*Bhubaneswar*:
- 122 drunken-driving cases registered and 122 vehicles seized, comprising 49 four-wheelers, 8 three-wheelers and 65 two-wheelers.
- ₹79,500/- collected through MV/OUP fines.
- 2 sand-loaded Hywas seized by Chandrasekharpur Police Station.
- 2 Excise cases and 2 modified-silencer cases detected by Mancheswar Police Station.
- 3 antisocials found consuming liquor in secluded places were arrested during foot patrolling by Khandagiri Police Station.

The drive reflects Odisha Police’s commitment to visible and proactive policing, safer roads, prevention of crime and strengthening the security of citizens, particularly during night hours. Such focused enforcement and field-oriented policing exercises will continue to ensure effective implementation of the priority areas of Odisha Police and maintain law, order and public safety.
1.03 crore+ women received the fifth instalment. ₹5,163 crore+ transferred across Odisha. 2,33,585 women in Nayagarh received ₹116.80 crore. Odisha has created 27 lakh Lakhpati Didis, achieving the target ahead of schedule. Nayagarh sugar mill will be established soon. Brutanga Irrigation Project work will begin shortly.
