Office of PRGI holds interaction with Publishers Owners and Editors of Newspapers in Odisha

Paperman India (Bhubaneswar )- The Office of the Press Registrar General of India (PRGI) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, held an interaction program with printers, publishers and Owners of various print media organisations of Odisha in PIB Bhubaneswar today. The use of PRGI Press Sewa Portal and various new regulations of the Press and Registration of Periodicals (PRP) Act, 2023 were discussed on this occasion.

Santosh Kumar, Additional Press Registrar General, PRGI, New Delhi, and Gaurav Sharma, Assistant Director, NIC, New Delhi, participated in the interaction and exchanged views on various systems, procedures and regulations including regular publication of newspapers and periodicals, various revised regulations of PRGI (formerly RNI), registration of periodicals, newsprint and Circulation verification. The two senior officials stressed on making the circulation verification audit hassle free and transparent. They sought feedback from publishers and printers, particularly on the problems with the use of the Press Sewa Portal and the various technical glitches faced by the print media houses. Shri Santosh Kumar was of the view that the findings of today's discussion will help in the effective implementation of the PRP Act, 2023.

Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General (ADG), Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, welcomed the interaction programme. “Organizing such events at the state level will facilitate the implementation of the PRP Act for print media houses and will bring more efficiency in newspaper and periodical publishing”, said Shri Mishra.

The Owners, Publishers and Editors of various newspapers of Odisha attended the program and shared their issues and feedback with the officials.
