A delegation of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), led by Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das, called on Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra at his official residence and presented the trophies and certificates received for outstanding performance in the national ward-level clean-air assessment.
The delegation included Deputy Mayor Smt. Manjulata Kanhar, BMC Commissioner Shri Chanchal Rana, Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation) Shri N. Ganesh Babu, Chairperson of the Sanitation Standing Committee and Corporators representing Wards 30, 36 and 22.
Ward No. 36 and Ward No. 30 of BMC secured top positions in the national assessment, while Ward No. 13 of Rourkela Municipal Corporation also earned a top position, bringing recognition to Odisha’s efforts towards improving urban air quality.
Congratulating the BMC team, Dr. Mahapatra appreciated the collective efforts of elected representatives, officials and citizens. He said the achievement was a matter of pride for Bhubaneswar and Odisha and urged the Corporation to sustain and strengthen ward-level clean-air initiatives.
The Minister emphasised that clean air requires continuous local action and active community participation. The BMC delegation thanked him for his encouragement and assured continued efforts towards a cleaner, greener and healthier Bhubaneswar.
