Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar)- All campuses of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) will be transformed into green and environment-friendly campuses, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda said on Friday.
Addressing a massive tree plantation drive at SOA Campus-4 here, Prof. Nanda said environmental pollution and ecological degradation had emerged as major challenges, making tree plantation a collective responsibility. He emphasised the need for sustained efforts to restore and maintain ecological balance and create a healthier future.
The plantation programme was jointly organised by the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (IVSAH), and SOA National Institute of Law (SNIL).
Around 500 saplings of 12 different species were planted during the drive. The species included Baula, Sunari, Kanchan, Arjuna, Pistachio, Jamun, Bahada, Gulmohar and Bada Chakunda.
Senior SOA officials, faculty members, students and staff participated enthusiastically in the initiative and contributed to the university’s ongoing environmental sustainability efforts.
Prof. Nanda stressed that developing green campuses was not merely an institutional responsibility but a collective commitment involving students, faculty and staff. The initiative reaffirmed SOA’s commitment to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
The university encouraged everyone to embrace the message: “Plant a Tree, Protect the Environment.”
