Bihar Sports Minister Studies Odisha's World-Class Sports Model

Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- Bihar's Sports and Industries Minister, Ms. Shreyasi Singh, is on a four-day official exposure visit to Odisha to study the state's internationally acclaimed sports infrastructure and athlete development model. The visit, from July 30 to August 2, is aimed at drawing key lessons for Bihar's proposed Sports City and future sports development projects.

Accompanied by senior officials, including Director of Sports Shri Arif Ahsan and Deputy Director (BSSA) Shri Himanshu Singh, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist and Arjuna Awardee toured several world-class sports facilities at the Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex in Bhubaneswar.

The delegation visited the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Shooting, Gymnastics, Badminton, Hockey and Weightlifting High Performance Centres, the Aquatic Centre, Indoor Athletics Centre, Sports Science Centre and the AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy. Officials briefed the visiting team on the management, training systems and operational framework of these premier facilities.

Ms. Singh also held detailed discussions with senior officials of Odisha's Sports & Youth Services Department on athlete development, talent identification, sports administration, public-private partnership (PPP) models and international event management. Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shri Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Sports Director Dr. Yedulla Vijay, and other senior officials participated in the deliberations and guided the technical visit.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit Puri to inspect the Kho-Kho High Performance Centre and Sports Hostel as part of the study tour.

Expressing appreciation for Odisha's remarkable achievements in sports, the Bihar delegation described the state's athlete-centric approach and High Performance Centre ecosystem as a benchmark for the country. The delegation noted that the experience gained during the visit would play a significant role in strengthening Bihar's sports infrastructure, talent development programmes and future sporting initiatives, while also fostering greater cooperation between the two states in the field of sports.
