Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar)- Ahead of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Meet in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday emphasised that while records may be broken and medals may change hands, character, determination and discipline remain timeless values of sport.
Addressing a welcome dinner organised on the eve of the competition, the Governor extended greetings to athletes, coaches, officials and guests from across the world. He said the Kalinga Stadium was ready to host another high-quality international sporting event.
More than 200 athletes from 27 countries are participating in the meet. Describing the event as a celebration of human potential, Dr. Kambhampati said sport transcends geographical, cultural and national boundaries and brings people together.
He urged athletes to compete with determination and fairness, respect their opponents and enjoy the opportunity to perform. He noted that every race, jump and throw represents years of discipline, sacrifice and rigorous training.
Highlighting Odisha’s emergence as a global sporting destination, the Governor recalled the State’s successful hosting of major international events and said Odisha is set to host the World Athletics Championships and Asian Athletics Indoor Championships in 2028.
Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, AFI Senior Vice-President Anju Bobby George and other senior officials were also present.
