Khordha District Administration Intensifies Preparedness and Evacuation Measures

Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar)- As a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing flood situation, the Khordha district administration has intensified public awareness and evacuation efforts across vulnerable areas.

Public address systems and miking campaigns have been carried out across Balianta, Balipatna, Bhubaneswar, Tangi, Jatni and Khordha to alert residents and encourage timely evacuation from low-lying and flood-prone areas.

So far, 514 people have been safely evacuated to the nearest designated shelters, including 307 persons from Balianta Block, 187 persons from Balipatna Block and 20 persons from Jatni Block.

Special attention has been given to the elderly, women and children. Ten pregnant women have been safely shifted to the nearest Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to ensure uninterrupted access to medical care.

Senior officials have also visited the vulnerable Gram Panchayats to take stock of the preparedness measures and review the arrangements at the field level. They assessed evacuation, shelter management, food distribution and other essential services, while issuing necessary directions to ensure a prompt and coordinated response.

The district administration, in close coordination with the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), has ensured that all relief shelters are equipped with essential facilities. Adequate quantities of dry food, freshly cooked meals and safe drinking water are being provided to all evacuees. Special nutritional support for children is being arranged through Anganwadi Workers, ensuring that their dietary needs are adequately met.

The district administration, in continuous coordination with the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to safeguarding lives through timely evacuation, effective relief measures and uninterrupted essential services.
