Chandigarh- Hockey legend and three times Olympic gold winner Balbir Singh Sr died in 96 years today at Mohali. Dr Abhijit Singh director fortis hospital, Mohali told to PTI that Mr Singh admitted here on 8th of May 2020 with disease. He breathed his last breath in the morning at 6.30 AM.
He born in 31st December 1923 at Punjab. He played hockey from the childhood. He lead the team as vice captain in the year 1948 and 1952 both London and Helsinki Olympics. And own gold in both match. Then under his captain ship India own 1956 Melbourne Olympics. After his sad demise President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports minister Kiran Rijiju and other dignitaries send condolence message to his family.
