New Delhi- Eminent odia and English literature writer from Odisha, Manoj Das will receive Padma Bhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the country. On the eve of 71st Republic day the government of India on Saturday announced the names of seven Padma Bibhusan awards, 16 Padma Bhusan and 118 Padma Shri awardees.
This is the first time Odisha conferred 1 Padma Bhushan and 11 Padma Shri. Manoj Das conferred from Puduchery. The padma Shri from Odisha are Dr. Damayanti Beshra and Binapani Mohanty for Literature and Education, Utsav Charan Das, Mitrabhanu Gountia, Late Manmohan Mahapatra (Posthumous) for Art, Prof Radhammohan and Ms Sabarmatee for agriculture, Batakrushna Sahoo for Animal Husbandry and Digambar Behera for Medicine. Dr. Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik from USA for Literature and Education. He is also from Odisha.
