Bhubaneswar- Millions of Indians are celebrating the seven days long giving festival of India I.e, Daan Utsav – earlier called Joy of Giving Week from 2 – 8 Oct. Odisha as a State is always participating in Daan Utsav with great enthusiasm like every year.There will be a series of programs during these weeks. Bakul Foundation is on a verge of painting walls of Bhubaneswar City with its campaign ‘Paint Your City’ along with one more ‘Book Bucket Challenge’ where their volunteers will collect books to build a library.
Similarly, TRUST in association with Institute for Development, CLAP – a legal aid institute, Kanchan Foundation, Datapro, Jeypore, Shri Devendra Adhikari Melody Group and Red Swastik Organization is going organize a Charity Concert ‘Do Kadam Tum Bhi Chalo’ on 6th Oct. Evening at Utkal RangaMancha, Bhubaneswar to support underprivileged. TRUST is also organizing ‘Vidya Daan’ in few schools in different themes and will continue this throughout the year.
CLAP – a legal aid institute is organizing free legal services throughout the DaanUtsav week with 100 Advocates on the banner ‘Nyaya Daan’. Achytant Trust is organising a women football match at Laxmi Sagar High School Field on 8th Oct along with some cultural programs. Euro kids, Rasulgarh, B.J.B. Nagar, Surya Nagar, and CDA, Cuttack is celebrating DaanUtsav throughout the week. SHARP is distributing approximately 10k liters of Mineral Water to villagers of Naradinghpur.
The regular ‘Seva Mahotsav’ is organized at Badabarsingh, Badamba by the villagers of Badamba. Mission Odisha is organising Blood Donation Camp and Bullock Cart Rally at Puri. Wish Tree, Thank You Card, and Cloth Donation will be organized by AFORD at Charbatia.
Bari Surakshya Mancha of Bari block of Jajpur distict will organize the Daan Utsav at Matru Mangal Kendra in the leadership of Milan Kumar Samal. Apart from this scheduled programs, different Rotary Clubs, Rotarct Clubs and school like DAV, Sai International School and other schools and colleges are also organizing different giving activities as per their creativity and interest.
This year in Mumbai 1,22,265 people registered to donate plastic, as a part of the Mumbai Plastic Recyclothon. Last year, 85,000 people had joined in this festival of giving. ‘Cognizant’ is organising ‘Share a Meal’ to feed the needy. Goonj is setting more than 100 collection drive to collect cloth, materials, etc. which they use in Cloth For Work Program in later days. A giving act could be as simple as a family taking out their maid’s children for an ice cream party, or as large as a ‘Gift Compassion’. In fact, the moral of the story is nobody owns DaanUtsav and there is no Blueprint for giving activity – you can do any act of giving for your happiness.
