Bhubaneswar- Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash, India’s leading face wash brand,culminatedthe third phase of “My First Pimple”, a pan-India campaign, with an event held in Santanu English Medium School. The “My First Pimple”campaign is a unique initiative that aims to connect with teenagers aged between 13-17 years, with an intent to enable and encourage them to tackle emotional and physical challenges they face during their growing-up years, including the onset of pimples.
Asa part of the third phase of this initiative, Himalaya associated with a group of successful women influencers from different walks of life to conduct interactive sessions acrosseightcities in the country. These influencers shared their personal stories and encouraged teenagers to focus on larger goals than worrying about teenage concerns such as pimples.Research highlights that teenagers tend to get conscious and worried about their appearance because of pimples. “My First Pimple” aims at helping young teenagers overcome these issues and instill a sense of confidence, since pimples are a part of each one’s formative years, and every teenager goes through it.
The event at Bhubaneswar witnessed a huge participation of over 200 students in Santanu English Medium School. Gracing the occasion as the Guest Speaker was Valena Valentina, International Karate Practitioner. Keerthika Damodharan, Brand Manager–Face Wash, Consumer Products Division,The Himalaya Drug Company, was also present duringthe event. Through an engaging session, Valena connected with the students and narrated her story on how she always strived to be positive in her teenage days and never let anythingbog her down.
Speaking about her association with this initiative, Valena Valentina said, “Everyone experiences pimples during their growing-up phase, andthis constant worry about appearance affects their confidence. What we forget is that our skin issueswill not stay for long, rather will go away with time and appropriate care. This is the right time for teenagers to think big and focus on their ambitions and not let these changes come in the way of their dreams and what they wish to be”.

For teenagers, it is a challenging phase where their body goes through numerous changes, and the whole transition can often be very upsetting. In addition, negative remarks with regards to physical appearances can impact a teenager’s confidence and self-esteem. ’My First Pimple’ campaign is a platform to raise awareness about issues surrounding pimples, including lack of confidence among young teenagers, and reassure them that pimples are just a part of their growing-up years, and there are bigger challenges in life that they need to focus on”.
In this third leg of the campaign , “My First Pimple” has been executed in 8 cities thus far, including Chennai, Surat, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Guwahati, Moradabad, Ahmedabad, along with Bhubaneswar. “With this, we were able to reach out to thousands ofteenagers last year, and we plan to continue this initiative in the years to come, and as a brand committed to well-being, we will not missanyopportunity to bring about a difference,” added Keerthika.
