Bhubaneswar- Noted social activist and transgender leader Meera Parida may contest from Begunia assembly constituency with BJD ticket. Political analysis rumors the same in capital city. Analysis said though BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik appointed Meera as the vice president of women’s wing of the party but still her probable candidature from Begunia is under consideration. She belongs from Gadatara village of Begunia.

As analysis say Naveen creates a positive atmosphere with women’s of state after Pramila Bisoyee as MP candidate from Aska, so he wants another favor from third gender of state with candidature of Meera Parida. Naveen knows how to handle the voters and how to manage the election. That’s why he did not react after so many senior leaders quit the party.

Meera joined BJD on 17th March. She appoints vice president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD) on 29th March. She is the president of All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangha and founder member of Sakha. Transgender population of Odisha is more than 20,000. BJD eyeing the same through Meera. Already BSP announced Kajol, a transgender leader to contest assembly election from Korei of Jajpur. So Naveen also wants to set a milestone. It may recalled that Meera and some transgender leader of Odisha filed a petition to state election commissioner allowing third gender to contest in election in 2017.
